The Base 5 Guard Annual Senior Citizen Christmas party was held at Top Chillas in Glenridge on the 7th of December 2018. The event saw the elderly coming together for a king and queen size banquet. They later took food parcels home to prepare for Christmas and also exiting 2018 on a high note.
Base 5 Guard Managing Director Lucky Moshimane told Noweto News that it is a norm in his company to host this annual event. He says ever since he started his company he made it a norm that this event is hosted every year. In the past year the event was held in different areas like Diepsloot, Cosmo City and amongst others Zandspruit.
“We are where we are because of our senior citizens, a community without senior citizens is a broken one. It is important to take care of them and learn all the wisdom we can learn from them.” Said Moshimane.
He says he is concerned about the elderlies that have no one to help them. “Another reason why we host this event is because other elderlies are abandoned and they have no one to buy them food. Imagine Christmas or the entire festive without food. We took it upon ourselves to do something about it.” Concluded Moshimane.
Rose Mokhobo is one of the elderlies that attended the event, she says she was very delighted to be part of the event.
“We were well taken care of and the stuff members interacted very well with us. They played very nice music for us as elders. I really had a great time.” Said Mokhobo.
